New Feature: Getting Started

We have some amazing updates rolling as the schools begin to come back in session.


Changes to Yellowdig’s reminders and notifications can be configurable within your Yellowdig Community and will be released now.

Getting Started Feature

What we did: Instructors and community facilitators now have the opportunity to access a walkthrough guide for getting their community started. This feature will allow instructors to modify the start & end dates of their communities, as well as add and reorganize topic tags, all in one go. At the end of the walkthrough, they’ll be able to view three quick videos to help instructors get their communities started quickly and easily. The modal flow and checklist can be reactivated by clicking the “Getting Started” link in the left-hand navigation menu.

Why we did it: To ensure that instructors and community facilitators are equipped with the proper resources to set up a community quickly and easily, we made a decision to include all the essential community setup steps in the form of a walkthrough.


This release should not be disruptive to existing communities. It will only be enabled for newly created communities in your organization. Existing communities will not see the "Getting Started" menu item, the checklist at the bottom right, or the modal. This effectively means an instructor or TA in an ongoing class can't accidentally make any changes via the flow, because they won't even know it exists until they launch their next community.
