"The students use Yellowdig to find additional resources to help with the material and ask their classmates for study tips/help on homework... The courses that I use Yellowdig in are online courses. I use it in place of the required discussion board."

Dr. Coltharp was an active participant in her Yellowdig communities, posting course related memes and interactive elements that are easily supported on the Yellowdig interface. To the right and further dwown the page, you can find sections of her course outline where she organizes her course topics and plans her memes, videos, and interactive elements to share on the platform. Dr. Coltharp's participation as a fellow community member, and not just a prompt giver, helped to engage her students with the material, helped the students to engage with each other comfortably, and helped her get to know her students better!

Dr. Coltharp further described that at MSSU, it is a university-wide requirement that online courses incorporate a discussion board. Dr. Coltharp chooses to use Yellowdig because it "much more fun and beneficial than the traditional discussion board." By using Yellowdig, Dr. Coltharp saw a level of engagement and understanding that traditional discussion boards simply lack the element of connection to activate these positive sentiments in students and professors.

Yellowdig is a great platform for any academic discipline. From Mathematics to English to Engineering to Political Science, there is something for everyone! Dr. Coltharp's use of Yellowdig encouraged her students to connect more while also providing them with a more solid understanding of the material than a traditional discussion board.
It gives students the opportunity to interact with their classmates (and me) in a more natural way.
