FAQs about the Instructor Certification Course

Our Instructor and Designer Certification is free, and available to anyone interested in completing it. The course can be completed in one hour, and paid partnership with Yellowdig is not required to complete the course. Please visit our Learning Resources
site to get started!
Why should I take the course?
It helps instructors create communities that are highly connected and engaged. We have research-based best practices that have been shown to increase student engagement, decrease course dropout rates, and can effectively reduce instructor workload. Discovering these practices on your own can take years, as we have seen professors do, thus delaying positive outcomes for you and your students. This course is a shortcut to success.
What will I learn?
This course goes beyond how to use the technology of Yellowdig. We also share our research-backed pedagogy for implementing in Communities. There are also optional modules including STEM use cases, co-curricular use cases, and network administration to help you best prepare for your unique situation.
Are there other resources available?
The course gives you access to instructor case studies and email/syllabus templates in the files tab. Beyond the course, we have a comprehensive Knowledge Base, our YouTube Channel (which contains orientation guides for instructors and students), our Blog, and our YD Website Status Page, all to help you improve your use of Yellowdig. As always, we are happy to speak with you to answer any questions you may have as well.
